Infosys sets up U.S. unit to bid for govt deals

Radware Ltd. announces record results and nomination of Chairman
Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), the leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, today reported record quarterly revenues of $29.2 million for the third quarter of 2009. This represents an increase of 24% compared with revenues of $23.5 million for the third quarter of 2008 and an increase of 8% compared with revenues of $27.1 in the second quarter of 2009.
Net income on a GAAP basis for the third quarter of 2009 was $0.2 million or $0.01 per diluted share compared with a net loss of $8.5 million or $0.44 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2008.

Patni Computer promoters to take call on stake sale by January
Reviving plans to offload part of their holdings in Patni Computer Systems, promoters are studying offers from various companies, according to market sources. A clear decision on bids from various contenders for the promoter holdings, added the sources, was expected by January.
The three Patni brothers, non-executive chairman Narendra Patni and his younger brothers, Gajendra and Ashok, hold equal stakes totaling 48.3 per cent in India’s sixth-largest software exporter. Private equity company General Atlantic holds 18 per cent, while the rest is public.

Thinksoft Global recovers after a dismal debut
The Chennai-based firm had raised Rs 45.57 crore through the recently concluded IPO. Thinksoft Global Services' IPO ended on 1 October 2009 with subscription of 2.25 times. The IPO got bids for 82.12 lakh shares as against 36.46 lakh shares on offer.
Thinksoft Global Services had on 24 September 2009 extended the closing date of the IPO to 1 October 2009 from the earlier 24 September 2009 as the issue failed to garner sufficient subscription. Cognizant net up 21 per cent
Even as IT bellwether Cognizant Technology Solutions raised its outlook for 2009-10, it reported a 21 per cent growth in net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, to $136.6 million compared with $112.8 million during the corresponding period a year ago.
The Nasdaq-listed company’s revenue rose to $853.5 million from $734.7 million, an increase of 16 per cent from the year-ago quarter and 10 per cent sequentially (compared to the trailing quarter).

Hexaware, MindTree and Patni are among the many mid-tier Indian tech firms seeking to explore new business with an experienced partner. Sonata Software's net profit up 20 percent
Software solutions firm Sonata Software announced that its consolidated net profit is at Rs. 21.35 crore with a 20 percent growth sequentially. However, compared to the same quarter last year, there is a small decline in net profit from Rs. 21.63 crore to Rs. 21.35 crore. The revenue for the quarter is at Rs. 347.33 crore compared to Rs. 423.64 crore in the same quarter last year.

Zensar Technologies Ltd proposes to buy back up to 16.01 per cent of its aggregate paid-up equity share capital and free reserves for a total consideration of Rs40 crore.

MphasiS plans expansion in India
MphasiS Ltd, the India listed subsidiary of computer maker Hewlett Packard, plans to step up its focus in the domestic IT market where it is eyeing business from verticals such as healthcare, government, telecom and banking and financial services.
“We would like to grow our domestic business in India,” said Mr Ganesh Ayyar, Chief Executive Officer of MphasiS. “I believe that there are lot of services contracts in the Indian market, which truly reflect best global practices that could be exported,” he added.
Mastek net down 35.8% Y-o-Y
Earlier than expected ramp-down in the BT/NHS project, non-conversion of some of the deals impacted Mumbai-based IT product and services firm Mastek’s first quarter results ended September 30, 2009. Net profit of the firm was down 35.8 per cent at Rs 26.4 crore from Rs 41.18 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year. Revenue for the quarter at Rs 191.4 crore dipped 26.8 per cent from Rs 261.6 crore for the same quarter last year.

Tata Consultancy Services, India's top software firm, has been selected as the lowest bidder for a 2.93 billion rupee ($63 million) project in the state of Madhya Pradesh, an official with the state power utility said on Thursday.
Accenture bags Postal Department deal
Global IT and consultancy firm Accenture said that it has bagged an order from the Postal Department to modernise the post offices across the country.
The financial details of the deal were not known. As per the modernisation contract, Accenture would design an enterprise IT architecture and migrate the Department of Post (DoP) to a more efficient IT system.
