Sonata Software's net profit up 20 percent

Software solutions firm Sonata Software announced that its consolidated net profit is at Rs. 21.35 crore with a 20 percent growth sequentially. However, compared to the same quarter last year, there is a small decline in net profit from Rs. 21.63 crore to Rs. 21.35 crore. The revenue for the quarter is at Rs. 347.33 crore compared to Rs. 423.64 crore in the same quarter last year.

Mastek net down 35.8% Y-o-Y

Earlier than expected ramp-down in the BT/NHS project, non-conversion of some of the deals impacted Mumbai-based IT product and services firm Mastek’s first quarter results ended September 30, 2009. Net profit of the firm was down 35.8 per cent at Rs 26.4 crore from Rs 41.18 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year. Revenue for the quarter at Rs 191.4 crore dipped 26.8 per cent from Rs 261.6 crore for the same quarter last year.

MindTree buys US company’s Indian arm

MindTree has signed an agreement with Kyocera Wireless Corp (KWC) to acquire its Indian subsidiary Kyocera Wireless India. MindTree will make an upfront payment of about $6 million, and further payments linked to revenues in financial years 2010-11 and 2011-12.

The Bangalore-based IT solutions company expects this acquisition to contribute about $9 million in revenue for the period October 2009 to March 2010, with profit after tax expected to be in the range of 13-15%.

Telecom software maker Subex Ltd has decided to raise its authorised capital to Rs 130 crore and has offered to exchange outstanding convertible bonds worth $180 million that will mature in 2012 for new bonds.

Subex has invited the holders of its $180 million, two per cent coupon convertible unsecured bonds due in 2012 to exchange them for 5 percent bonds due in the same year, according to Barclays Capital.

Citi completed its third round of selling mid-tier software company Polaris Software Lab’s shares in the open market. In the last week, OrbiTech, an entity controlled by Citi has sold off over 7% of its holding in the company.
