Patni sees Q4 revenue rising over 3 pc Q-o-Q
Indian software services firm Patni Computer Systems is looking at a sequential revenue rise of more than 3 percent in the December quarter as it expects to get larger deals, its chief executive said.
"Growth is not what it has been used to be before, but it is better than what it has been recently," Jeya Kumar told Reuters in an interview late on Thursday.

Radware Ltd. announces record results and nomination of Chairman
Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), the leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, today reported record quarterly revenues of $29.2 million for the third quarter of 2009. This represents an increase of 24% compared with revenues of $23.5 million for the third quarter of 2008 and an increase of 8% compared with revenues of $27.1 in the second quarter of 2009.
Net income on a GAAP basis for the third quarter of 2009 was $0.2 million or $0.01 per diluted share compared with a net loss of $8.5 million or $0.44 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2008.

MindTree net up 34% on forex gains

Patni Computer promoters to take call on stake sale by January
Reviving plans to offload part of their holdings in Patni Computer Systems, promoters are studying offers from various companies, according to market sources. A clear decision on bids from various contenders for the promoter holdings, added the sources, was expected by January.
The three Patni brothers, non-executive chairman Narendra Patni and his younger brothers, Gajendra and Ashok, hold equal stakes totaling 48.3 per cent in India’s sixth-largest software exporter. Private equity company General Atlantic holds 18 per cent, while the rest is public.

Thinksoft Global recovers after a dismal debut
The Chennai-based firm had raised Rs 45.57 crore through the recently concluded IPO. Thinksoft Global Services' IPO ended on 1 October 2009 with subscription of 2.25 times. The IPO got bids for 82.12 lakh shares as against 36.46 lakh shares on offer.
Thinksoft Global Services had on 24 September 2009 extended the closing date of the IPO to 1 October 2009 from the earlier 24 September 2009 as the issue failed to garner sufficient subscription. Also the company had lowered its price band for its initial public offer (IPO) to Rs 115-125 per share from the earlier price band of Rs 120-130 per share.

Cognizant net up 21 per cent
Even as IT bellwether Cognizant Technology Solutions raised its outlook for 2009-10, it reported a 21 per cent growth in net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, to $136.6 million compared with $112.8 million during the corresponding period a year ago.
The Nasdaq-listed company’s revenue rose to $853.5 million from $734.7 million, an increase of 16 per cent from the year-ago quarter and 10 per cent sequentially (compared to the trailing quarter).

Mid-tier tech cos eye $2 bn local deals
With larger rivals already chasing the lucrative domestic market, mid-tier tech firms such as Patni Computer Systems and Hexaware are attempting to enter the market by jointly bidding with experienced bidders. India’s government departments and other state-owned firms are set to spend around $2 billion on IT during the next 12 months.
Hexaware, MindTree and Patni are among the many mid-tier Indian tech firms seeking to explore new business with an experienced partner. Hexaware, for instance, is pursuing 2-3 large deals as part of a consortium and several smaller ones on its own. The company’s strategy for the Indian market will be different from its strategy for overseas markets.
