MindTree to split biz into 5 units
MindTree has decided to restructure its business into five independent business units under different CEOs as it looks to rapidly expand each of these segments. Effective April 1, the proposed restructuring will see the CEOs report to the group CEO.
The five units are IT services, product engineering services which include research and development.
(R&D) and outsource product development (OPD), testing, infrastructure management and technical support (IMTS), and a new area called knowledge services. Currently, MindTree has two business units — IT services contributing 79% in revenues and R&D 21%.

Tech Mahindra in talks to buy B’lore start-up Sloka Telecom
Tech Mahindra is in discussions to acquire Bangalore-based niche telecom solutions player Sloka Telecom. People close to the situation said the five-year-old tech start-up, Sloka Telecom, has put a price tag of Rs 30-35 crore but there is no agreement on a final transaction.
Sloka provides solutions in the areas of fixed WiMax, Mobile WiMax and 3G. The company claimed that its patent pending technology architecture gives price advantage in making smaller and cheaper telecom base stations primarily finding application in the semi-urban and rural areas.

HCL Technologies has won a whopping Rs 393-crore contract from National Insurance Company (NIC) in a deal keenly contested by top Indian IT companies as well as multinationals.
The contract is a seven-year partnership that involves implementing a slew of software applications and maintaining them, besides supporting the insurer’s IT infrastructure.
