Mr Sachin Pilot, the new Minister of State for IT and Communications, is one of the youngest faces in the Council of Ministers. This Congress MP from Ajmer believes that accessible and affordable technologies need to reach out all sections of the society, particularly to those who have not yet enjoyed the fruits of technical innovation and advancement. Quite naturally, the roll-out of the National e-Governance Programme is right on top of his priority list. The Minister also feels that while the protectionist signals emanating from the Western markets do not augur well for a globalised economy, Indian industry too needs to do its bit by continuing to innovate and explore new geographies.
